Medical insurance policy for a Ukraine D visa and temporary residence permit
We arrange medical insurance policies for foreign nationals in Ukraine: a D visa policy with coverage of 30 000 EUR and a temporary residence permit policy with coverage of 40 000 UAH. The price starts from 1 000 UAH. The policy is issued online and sent to your email with a digital signature. If the migration office needs a paper original, we can send it by Nova Poshta within Ukraine.
This page is about medical insurance for entering Ukraine and staying in Ukraine. It is not about Schengen visa insurance or travel insurance for trips from Ukraine to other countries. We do not arrange those products.
You can order the policy remotely, before you arrive in Ukraine. Foreign nationals from any country can complete the order online and receive the document by email.

Insurance policy for a Ukraine D visa
Insurance policy for a Ukraine D visa
Most foreign nationals need a long-stay D visa to enter Ukraine before applying for a temporary residence permit. One of the documents usually required by a Ukrainian consulate is a medical insurance policy.
Basic requirements for a D visa insurance policy:
- minimum coverage: 30 000 EUR;
- validity in Ukraine;
- emergency medical care and repatriation;
- validity period: 90 days or another period sufficient for the consular filing;
- acceptable form: paper policy or electronic policy with a digital signature or QR code.
Citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Belarus do not need a D visa for some residence permit procedures. They may enter Ukraine visa-free and apply for a temporary residence permit inside Ukraine. Before ordering insurance, it is still necessary to check the filing ground and the remaining lawful stay in Ukraine.
Medical insurance policy for a temporary residence permit
A medical insurance policy is required when applying for a temporary residence permit in Ukraine. The policy is filed with the State Migration Service together with the other documents.
Basic requirements for a temporary residence permit insurance policy:
- minimum coverage: 40 000 UAH;
- validity period: at least 1 year from the filing date;
- if the residence permit is based on a work permit, the insurance should cover the full term of the work permit, usually 1 or 2 years;
- form: an insurance company form with signature and stamp; for some filings an electronic document is enough, but for others it is safer to have the paper original;
- coverage should include emergency medical care, inpatient and outpatient treatment, medicines and repatriation.
For a residence permit, a 13-month policy is often the safer option. It reduces the risk of questions about whether the insurance period is long enough for the filing.
How to order the policy
- Open the order form and fill in the required fields.
- During working hours, Monday to Friday, 10:00-18:00 Kyiv time, we usually send a draft policy to your email within 1-2 hours.
- Check the name, passport details, nationality, validity period and other data.
- If the details are correct, pay through the payment link sent by email or messenger.
- Payment is made by bank card on the insurance company's website. The insurance contract is confirmed by SMS code.

- For a D visa, it is usually enough to print the electronic policy. For the migration office, we can send the paper original by Nova Poshta if needed.
When legal help with insurance is useful
- when the policy is needed for a Ukrainian consulate or the State Migration Service, not just for ordinary travel;
- when you are not sure which policy is needed for a D visa or a temporary residence permit;
- when the migration office may ask for a paper original with signature and stamp;
- when the filing date is close and the policy is needed the same day;
- when the foreign national is outside Ukraine and cannot arrange the document locally.
This service is for clients who need insurance as part of a Ukrainian immigration procedure and want to avoid a mistake with the type of policy, validity period or document form.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum coverage for a temporary residence permit?
For a temporary residence permit, the required coverage is 40 000 UAH. For a D visa at a Ukrainian consulate, the required coverage is 30 000 EUR. These are different policies with different coverage and document form requirements.
Does the migration office accept an electronic insurance policy?
It depends on the filing. Sometimes an electronic policy with a digital signature or QR code is enough. In other situations, the migration office may ask for the paper original with signature and stamp. When ordering, it is better to specify whether the policy is for a D visa or for filing with the migration office.
How long should the insurance policy be valid for a temporary residence permit?
At least 1 year from the filing date. For a residence permit, many clients choose 13 months to avoid a dispute about whether the insurance period is sufficient. If the residence permit is based on a work permit, the insurance should cover the full term of the work permit.
Do I need a new policy when renewing a temporary residence permit?
Yes. When applying to renew or exchange a temporary residence permit, you need a new insurance policy or confirmation that the existing policy has been extended for the next period.
Can the policy be issued before I arrive in Ukraine?
Yes. The policy can be arranged remotely. For a D visa, it is normally issued before entry into Ukraine and filed with the consulate. For a residence permit, it is issued before the filing with the migration office.
What information is needed to issue the policy?
Usually we need the foreign national's passport details, date of birth, nationality, policy validity period, email for receiving the document and a phone number or messenger contact. If the policy is for the migration office, it is useful to state the basis of the residence permit as well.
Can I pay from outside Ukraine?
Yes. Payment is made by bank card through the insurance company's website. If there is a technical problem with payment, we will explain the available options separately.
What if there is a mistake in the name or passport details?
Before payment, we send a draft policy for review. If a mistake is found before payment, the data is corrected before the contract is issued. If the mistake is noticed later, we need to check whether the policy can be corrected or reissued.
Will this policy be accepted by every migration office?
The policy is prepared according to the usual insurance requirements for temporary residence permit filings. If your filing requires a paper document, we prepare the original.
How long does it take to issue the policy?
During working hours, the policy is usually ready within 1-2 hours after we receive the data. If your filing is already scheduled or you need the document today, state this when placing the order.
Can you issue a policy for a person over 60?
Yes. For persons aged 61 and older, separate tariffs apply: 1 year — 2 000 UAH, 13 months — 2 300 UAH, 2 years — 4 000 UAH. If the policy is needed for a residence permit based on marriage to a Ukrainian citizen, we usually recommend the 13-month option.
